"Notorious" took the high road in reacting to his heated rival's announcement.

It didn't take long for Conor McGregor to react after Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Justin Gaethje and announced his retirement at UFC 254.

However, McGregor didn't use the opportunity to take a shot at his heated rival. Instead, he saluted him and offered condolences once again toward Nurmagomedov's loss of his dad this past summer.

The tweet certainly was a respectful, classy gesture from McGregor, who has always spewed venom toward Nurmagomedov before and well after "The Eagle" made him tap out to a neck crank during the fourth round of their October 2018 clash.

With Nurmagomedov's retirement and lightweight title now being up for grabs, Dana White was asked Saturday night about the possibility of the upcoming McGregor-Dustin Poirier fight being for the vacant championship, but he wasn't prepared to answer the inquiry just yet.

"I don't know," the UFC president said at the UFC 254 post press conference. "I have no idea."
