Current champion staying ready for UFC 300: 'I don't think you can ever count out a fight'DAZN

Tom Aspinall doesn't expect to fight at UFC 300.

But you never know.

Aspinall is the interim heavyweight champion after taking on Sergei Pavlovich on just two weeks' notice at UFC 295. The Briton put on a memorable performance with a first-round knockout to win the fight, and he's currently awaiting his next bout.

However, with less than a month to go until the milestone event in Las Vegas, Aspinall isn't expecting a call to fight at UFC 300.

“In my head, a return at UFC 300 is nowhere near happening, that being said I did take my last fight at two weeks' notice, so I don't think you can ever count out a fight or a fight date, that's why I stay ready," Aspinall told OLBG.

"But the last time I spoke to the UFC about 300, which was about six weeks ago, they said I'm not going to be on it. I'm ok with that.”
