Dana White reveals target date for Fight Island debutDAZN
White is expecting "Fight Island" to be up and running in late June.

Dana White has been aggressive since the coronavirus pandemic began. Many other sports leagues across the United States are still weeks away from potentially resuming, but White had the UFC in action at the beginning of May.

His boldest idea, though, is the mystical "Fight Island," an unknown location where White is building infrastructure to support a fight card — or several fight cards. White previously told ESPN that "Fight Island" should be running in June.

White narrowed the scope a bit on a time frame on the "Talk the Talk" podcast with Eddie Hearn and Tony Bellew. White first said he is aiming for a July 25 debut, but later in the episode corrected himself to say the "The first fight on Fight Island is probably around June 27, not July.”

“It’s f—ing insane to even be trying to do this, but I promise you we will do it and we will pull it off," White said. "I believe doing this is going to help grow the sport immensely and financially. In many different ways, it is going to help build the sport. I know we can do it."

White has previously said "Fight Island" would have everything needed to host an event, including an Octagon, training facilities, internet access and transportation. The UFC has held multiple events in the U.S. already since the pandemic began. "Fight Island" could come into play for international fights where travel restrictions might otherwise prevent fighters from entering the United States.

If White's assessment of a fight around June 27 is correct, it won't be much longer before all the questions around "Fight Island" are answered.
