Did Conor McGregor just provide an update for the Michael Chandler fight?DAZN

It’s early August and mixed martial arts fans still don’t have a confirmed date for the proposed Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight.

That’s despite them filming an entire season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which was supposed to culminate in their own clash.

That being said, McGregor took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account late Monday and seemingly indicated that the UFC is ok with moving on from Chandler as his opponent.

“I’ll do it if they want, no prob. I don’t think they want him no more tho,” McGregor wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “There’s loads of juicy fights around and my return date is my return date. I never gave a f—k about who it was. Ever. I’ll fight anyone. I’ll even fly them to me, ask [Paulie] Malignaggi. Flown in and bet [sic] around.”

To that, Chandler responded on his own X account: “This dude… I remember when his words held an immense amount of weight. Just tell the truth.”

He followed that up with a prediction if the two were to be locked in an Octagon together:

McGregor did proclaim “Justin, I’ll slap you around” following Justin Gaethje’s win over Dustin Poirier on July 29, though Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz chalked it up to nothing more than the Irish sensation just wanting “clout.”

The 35-year-old McGregor hasn't fought since suffering a leg fracture in his trilogy bout with Poirier back in July 2021 and has lost three of his last four fights.
