After his career-defining UFC 257 stoppage win over Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier said he'd be interested in finally sharing the Octagon against Nate Diaz. The embattled welterweight left Poirier a clear cut message on what weight class they would meet at if terms can be agreed upon.
Diaz didn't wait too long to put out a second tweet, aimed directly at Poirier.
During the week of UFC 257, UFC president Dana White said he was working out a big fight for Diaz at 155 pounds. These tweets suggest that Diaz and White aren't on the same page.
Poirier hasn't responded to Diaz's comments. Right now, Poirier is in the driver's seat and doesn't have to make a jump to 170 pounds. He can take the trilogy fight with McGregor or decide to take possible lightweight title fights against either Michael Chandler or Charles Oliveira.
If Poirier opts to remain at lightweight or Diaz still refuses to go back down to his natural weight class, options are there for Diaz. There's the trilogy against McGregor, or a rematch versus Jorge Masvidal, Justin Gaethje or Tony Ferguson.
