Three possible opponents for Sean O'Malley following masterclass victory over Marlon Vera

The champ has plenty of mouthwatering options.

Sean O'Malley was brilliant in producing a unanimous decision shutout of Marlon Vera in the main event of UFC 299 on Saturday night.

Not only did the lopsided win avenge O'Malley's only pro loss, as Vera defeated him back in August 2020, but it also gave "Suga" his first successful bantamweight title defence.

And the 29-year-old world champion didn't waste time looking ahead to his next challenge, calling out featherweight champ Ilia Topuria.

That being said, DAZN looks at that fight and a couple of other possible opponents for O'Malley following his big win.

Ilia Topuria

Just last month, Topuria rocked Alexander Volkanovski for a second-round TKO to become the new featherweight world champion. And apparently, O'Malley liked what he saw enough to dare to be greater and challenge the newly-crowned titleholder from Spain.

"Dana [White], get me a jet to Spain, baby," O'Malley told Joe Rogan in the Octagon, "I'm coming for Ilia Topuria."

He added: "He's a scary f—ing dude. Ilia excites me, going up a weight class excites me."

And the prospect should excite fans and critics alike as well, with both fighters showing a penchant for setting off fireworks with their hands.

Merab Dvalishvili

If the Topuria idea doesn't come to fruition, O'Malley already has a backup plan.

"If you guys want me to knock out Merab, I'll do that too," he said, "but Ilia is an exciting fight for the people."

Dvalishvili is the No. 1 contender for O'Malley's bantamweight crown and is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Henry Cejudo last month.

Max Holloway

Holloway is just over a month away from fighting Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 on April 13. But after that, perhaps an O'Malley-Holloway clash is in order.

If O'Malley is willing to move to featherweight, then a bout with Holloway would make sense especially considering both pride themselves on their boxing.

Stylistically, on paper, this fight shines.
