The British heavyweight is the UFC interim champion.

Tom Aspinall is not too concerned by Jon Jones’ recent physical appearance.

Jones has suffered a serious knee injury that has kept him out of action, and he does not look to be in his peak physical condition as he makes appearances in the media.

There is speculation that, at 36, Jones may not be able to make a return to defend his UFC heavyweight title.

Aspinall is the interim heavyweight champion and has often spoken of his desire to have a title fight against Jones, who was previously scheduled to take on Stipe Miocic.

Speaking to Nordic Bet, Aspinall conceded Jones does not look at his best, but was realistic about what that means for the fighter.

He said: “He definitely doesn’t look in good shape. But the way you look, and fight are two different things. Just because he doesn’t look in good shape doesn’t mean that he can’t fight very well because he is Jon Jones and is one of the best to have ever done it.

“I don’t know Jon personally and I’m not connected to him in that way, so I don’t know where he is mentally. I’d love him to fight and keep going so I get a chance to fight him but who knows.

“I don’t know (if Jones will fight me), talking is one thing and actually fighting is another. People can talk all they want but when it comes to signing a contract, doing a training camp, and actually fighting, that’s something else. Interviews are one thing, writing something on Twitter (X) is another thing but fighting is something completely different.

“There’s a lot of people who say things online but whether they come to fight is something completely different.”
