UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has been vocal over recent days when it comes to the state of the heavyweight division.
Aspinall claimed the interim belt after producing a first round knockout against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 last year and many fans have been calling for Aspinall to challenge for the full title which is currently held by Jon Jones.
Jones was set to headline UFC 295 against Stipe Miocic before an injury in training camp resulted in the fight being shelved. With surgery required, it's likely that Jones will not be defending his title until the second half of 2024.
As a result, Aspinall has voiced his frustration with a number of posts on his personal X account which included calling out Miocic and Jones.
The current UFC heavyweight champion responded to Aspinall criticising the British star's resume who was quick to give his verdict on Jones' claims.
"Jon you're letting your ego run wild here mate," Aspinall said on X.
"I'm not downplaying your resume, it's incredible. Far superior to mine.
"You are known as the best fighter ever, and that's exactly why I want to beat you. Surely you can understand that?"
Since posting this response, Aspinall has received plenty of praise from MMA fans across the world with some claiming that Jones is afraid to face the British star.
But for the time being, Aspinall is set to wait to for his shot at the undisputed UFC heavyweight title as the MMA world awaits Jones' next move with the belt.
