UFC 303 took place on Saturday, June 29 with a light heavyweight title fight on the line.
The original main event for the UFC International Fight Week card was supposed to be Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler but an injury forced McGregor off the card and a short notice title fight was added.
UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira took on Jiri Prochazka in the main event for a rematch of their 2023 fight. In their first meeting, Prochazka won the first round but Pereira scored a controversial, potentially early stoppage in the second to win the fight. The rematch had them saving the UFC 303 fight card and settling the debate once and for all.
The UFC 303 fight nearly ended in the first round when Pereira dropped Prochazka at the bell but he finished what he started, landing a head kick in the first few seconds of the second round for a 13-second TKO.
"I didn't know how I was going to win but I knew I was going to leave the Octagon happy," Pereira said in the cage after the fight.
The audience cheered when Joe Rogan asked if he would consider moving to heavyweight next to which he replied, "I think that's in my future."
