Holly Holm had Mayra Bueno Silva pressed up against the Octagon during the second round.
The former world champion shot levels, but Bueno Silva was more than ready. She trapped Holm in a modified ninja choke, standing guillotine and cinched it in tightly. Holm had nowhere to go and tapped out, giving Bueno Silva a major victory at UFC Fight Night live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday.
That's three straight victories by submission for the Brazilian who thinks she's more than ready for a bantamweight world title shot.
"I do what I said [I'd do]," Bueno Silva told Daniel Cormier inside the Octagon following her thrilling victory. "Now, I want a belt because I deserve [it]. Nobody finishes like me. Hey, Julianna Pena — let's go! I deserve this, you deserve this, the people deserve this.
"I am a new face. I finish my fights! I give a show for everybody!"
While Holm came out crisp and active in fighting forward and lighting Bueno Silva up with flurries, the Brazilian had the more impactful shots of the first round with sharp elbows to the face and blunt knees to the body. There was also a crunching right hand across the jaw that Bueno Silva unloaded with in the round.
Then, came the adjustment in the second round when Holm attempted to change levels that ended the fight altogether.
Also, while speaking through an interpreter, Bueno Silva revealed that the victory was especially savory for her as she recently overcame a bout with depression.
"Recently, I found myself in a huge, huge depression and I thought that life wasn't worth it anymore," she said through an interpreter.
"I found these people here and I found that girl right there and she's been with me all along," Bueno Silva said, referring to her wife Gloria de Paula.
She implored that anybody who's depressed should "find somebody."
Here's how the entire UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Bueno Silva main card went.
