The Mexican UFC fighter is reported to have repeatedly stabbed both of his sisters.

UFC fighter Irwin Rivera has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after stabbing both of his sisters.

The Mexican reportedly believed he was told to do so by “a higher power.”

Sports network ESPN reported that he was arrested on Thursday and is being held without bail.

A police report stated that that two women, one aged 22 and the other 33, were discovered with multiple stab wounds. They were both alive and taken to a nearby hospital, and told police that they woke to find Rivera attacking them.

Rivera left the the scene of the crime but spoke to the police later to tell them that “I killed my sisters” after stabbing them with “a brass knuckle knife” under the direction of a “higher power.”

UFC released a statement, saying: “UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and subsequently received information from his management that he has been exhibiting behaviour consistent with mental health issues.

“The allegations are extremely troubling and the organisation is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any potential next steps including disciplinary action or medical attention will be determined upon the conclusion.

“Furthermore, UFC has informed Rivera’s management that he will not be offered a bout at this time.”
