The Formula E schedule now moves onto New York City as the season heads towards its conclusion.

Lucas di Grassi won Saturdy’s Mexico e-Prix in Puebla, with the weekend’s second race going to Edoardo Mortara.

The Brazilian took the win when Pascal Wehrlein, who crossed the finish line ahead of his competitors, was ultimately disqualified. Audi Sport Abt claimed a 1-2 finish when Rene Rast finished in second, and Venturi’s Mortara placed third. Wehrlein was banned for a technical offence.

The win for Di Grassi was the third in Mexico in his career, having also won in 2017 and then in 2019 at Mexico City.

On the following day’s race, Mortara of ROKiT Venturi Racing went two better to claim his second-ever e-Prix win, going to the top of the drivers’ championship. This time Wehrlein was able to finish the race without censure, coming up with a second-placed finish.

The final podium place went to Envision Virgin Racing’s Nick Cassidy.

“What a weekend for us – 40 points in two days! This win today is fantastic,” said Mortara after the race.

“Pascal was very strong today, it was hard to keep him behind. We used more energy in the first part of the race to build a gap and in the latter I had to save more energy.

“I am glad to be here, the car was very competitive, the team put on a great strategy. We try to maximize our potential every time we race, and we do our very best all the time. I am happy with our season so far.”

The next two rounds of Formula E will take place at New York City on July 10 & 11.
