For the third straight IndyCar Series race, Josef Newgarden earned pole position and led the most number of laps.
This time, though, the 30-year-old also took the checkered flag.
Newgarden won his first race of the campaign after putting on another dominant display, this time at the Mid-Ohio Indy 200 on Sunday. As the race neared completion, the experienced American found himself in a similar position to Road America and the second race in Detroit — the two most recent events prior to Sunday, both of which he failed to win — but was able to stave off disappointment by holding Marcus Ericsson at bay.
It's Newgarden's first victory of the 2021 season after three second-place finishes thus far. The Tennessee native sits fourth on points with six races remaining.
