Liverpool have already locked up the top spot in Group B of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League, and on Tuesday they'll close out the group stage with a visit to the San Siro to face AC Milan.
The match is of little consequence to the Reds, who have won every game thus far and have built up an incredible 10-point lead atop the group after five matchdays. As such, you'd be forgiven if you expect Jurgen Klopp to take it easy in Tuesday's game, especially given the hectic holiday schedule of fixtures that faces his high-flying side.
Klopp may rest of a few starters against a Milan team in desperate need of points, but anyone whose seen Liverpool under the German manager knows that the Reds will not rest easy in any competitive match.
"We play how we train and we all know, we’ve said it plenty of times, we would love if we could train more often because then we could play much more intensely," Klopp said.
"That’s how it is. In the specific things, the exercises we do, it’s all about doing the things we need to do in a football game with the right intensity and as often as somehow possible."
Klopp knows the Rossoneri will throw everything they have at Liverpool, as Milan head into the fixture in third place and in need of crucial points in order to advance to the round of 16. One weapon the Italian side has is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will be expected to play some part in Tuesday's game.
"I’m looking forward to playing in San Siro, I can tell you – first time for me," Klopp said. "It’s not the first time we play Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it’s great to have players involved like Mo [Salah] and him. Thank God, they are not the only two on the pitch, otherwise San Siro would be too big!"
