Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati was once again named the best women's player in the world, winning the Ballon d'Or Feminin on Monday.
It's the second straight Ballon d'Or for the 26-year-old, who follows in the footsteps of club and country teammate Alexia Putellas after Putellas won it in 2021 and 2022.
The influential midfielder had a stellar 2023-24 campaign, scoring 19 times across all competitions to lead Barcelona to the league, cup and Women's Champions League treble. Additionally, Bonmati was key to Spain's UEFA Women's Nations League triumph earlier this year, scoring in the semi-finals and final.
Barcelona's dominance in Ballon d'Or Feminin voting was already established with Putellas' and Bonmati's respective reigns, but this year's voting was even more favourable for the Catalan side as they swept the top three spots — Caroline Graham Hamsen and Salma Paralluelo were second and third in voting, respectively.
