United were winners after two first-half penalties.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho said the club are still chasing a Champions League spot after their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.

The two sides played at Old Trafford to kick off the Premier League action for the weekend, and two first-half penalties proved decisive - both of them won by the young Argentine winger.

First up came a spot-kick from captain Bruno Fernandes, which was followed up by another penalty conversion, this time from forward Marcus Rashford, who has struggled in front of goal in his second season under Erik ten Hag.

For Everton, the loss is a blow after their recent appeal against a points deduction saw them gain four points after their punishment was reduced from 10 points to six.

Three points for United keeps them in sixth spot, and they remain unlikely to catch Aston Villa in fourth place above them, though they play fifth-placed Tottenham this weekend.

Speaking after the match, Garnacho TNT Sports: "We lost the last two games it's important to be there. We want to be in the Champions League next season so I am very happy [with this win].

"Now every game the manager said is a final. We have to win every single game, we're Manchester United. The job is done.

"The manager wants me to go one v one, to shoot, to dribble. I won two penalties. It's important.

"It's like a dream with my age. A full Old Trafford stadium chanting my name is incredible. I am very proud and happy."
