Alejandro Garnacho should be picked ahead of Marcus Rashford, former Manchester United midfielder Robbie Savage has claimed.
Savage came up through the ranks with the Class of ‘92 but made his name at Leicester City in the Premier League.
Garnacho scored a brilliant goal last weekend, against Everton, and he is a rare bright spark in United’s season under manager Erik ten Hag so far.
Wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony could soon be on their way out, and Rashford has struggled to find his best form once again after a promising year in the previous campaign.
Speaking to Planet Sport Bet, Savage said: “I think with the way Manchester United play, having Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford either side of Rasmus Hojlund is their best option. They are United’s two best wingers at the moment so I would play them both. If Erik ten Hag only wants to play them on the left and it is one or the other, then right now I would go for Garnacho over Rashford.
“I’d go with him over Rashford in terms of his end product and the excitement he brings to the pitch. His goal against Everton was a worldie and the way he took his goal against Galatasaray was brilliant. The funny thing is, Facundo Pellistri came onto the pitch and if it had been Garnacho on in the last few moments then I think he would have scored that chance.
“Garnacho is full of confidence, exuberant and direct. So right now, if it was a straight choice between him and Rashford to start, I would pick Garnacho. However, I do feel that United’s best team would have both of them starting either side of Hojlund.”
