Could Luka Modric be the next European-based star to play in the pink and black of Inter Miami?
According to football journalist Ekrem Konur, Miami are among a handful of teams set to compete for Modric's signature this summer. The Croatian is out of contract at the end of the season and could choose to re-sign with Real Madrid, but if he doesn't Konour says there are suitors in MLS and Saudi Arabia keen to land the 38-year-old.
Among the interested teams are Saudi trio Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, along with the Los Angeles Galaxy, for whom Miami co-owner David Beckham played for five seasons.
Should Modric choose Miami, he'd join a star-studded but aging lineup that includes Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
The challenges of adding a 38-year-old to such a group aside, Miami would need to fit Modric's wages under MLS' salary cap system, which limits the amount of money that can be spent on each squad.
