Arsenal legend and former Premier League winner Emmanuel Petit has suggested his old club are missing a striker. The Gunners are top of the Premier League, but questions remain over how reliable their goalscorers are.
Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the recognised strikers in the squad, and Petit doubts their consistency. Speaking to LordPing, Petit said, "I have huge respect for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, but are they going to score twenty-to-thirty goals a season? I don’t think so."
Jesus has just 12 goals in 34 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, and he only breached the 20-goal mark once while at Manchester City. Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah is a young player still finding his feet.
Petit said that Arsenal require a striker, "The most important signing would be a striker. Arsenal are missing the striker that can score between twenty-to-thirty goals a season.
"It’s a non-negotiable if you want to compete with the best teams."
