Arsenal look to bounce back from a disappointing midweek Champions League match when they host Newcastle in a Premier League fixture on Sunday.
The Gunners fell 1-0 at FC Porto on Wednesday, giving up a stoppage-time goal that allowed the hosts to claim victory in the first leg of their round of 16 tie. The loss ended a five-match win streak for the North London side, but they are still able to keep their league streak alive if they are able to defeat a Newcastle side that have climbed to eighth place in the standings.
For Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, the Porto loss is in the past and his players have to focus on the task at hand.
"That’s it, Porto is gone," he said. "We discussed it and we know the things that we did very well and the things that we have to improve.
"It tells you again about the small margins in the Champions League because we have one of the biggest chances in the 91st minute with Gabi [Magalhaes] - if he scores a goal we are 1-0 up and it’s a fantastic, mature, disciplined performance in the Champions League.
"However you lose it in the last second and it's something else.
"That's clear but we cannot lose sight of where we are, what we are doing and the importance of the match [on Saturday] and the full energy and focus is there."
