There's few matches quite like the North London Derby.
Even when Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are not among the title favorites, games between the clubs are must-watch affairs.
This season, neither side is truly considered among the teams expected to be in the title hunt when the season reaches its climax. Heading into Matchday 6, Arsenal sits in 13th after a rough start while Tottenham occupies seventh place.
The Gunners dropped their first three Premier League matches without scoring a single goal, allowing nine goals in that time frame. However, since that nightmare start, Arsenal has shown much better form with back-to-back 1-0 victories to climb out of the basement.
Tottenham, meanwhile, went the other way — winning three straight to begin the campaign and then losing 3-0 in consecutive matches. Any goodwill earned from the blazing start has been replaced by concern as Spurs have looked completely outmatched in back-to-back matches ahead of the clash with their north London foes.
Needless to say, both teams are looking to use Sunday's match as a catalyst for bigger and better things down the road.
"It is the most special game of the season at home, for sure," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said. "It is a north London derby, and emotionally it is a different one to play and we know how much it means for our supporters as well.
"The team [knows what it means] and I will make sure that they understand what it means: the history between the two clubs and where this rivalry comes from and what it means emotionally to all of our supporters.
"You have to play this game with a slightly different skin because there is a little bit more at stake."
Additionally, if both teams continue their current trajectories and Arsenal wins on Sunday, it will result in matching 3-0-3 records for the rivals after six matches.
