A pair of Premier League title contenders square off Wednesday as Aston Villa host Manchester City.
City are in third place and Villa are in fourth (one point back) in a tight title race led by Arsenal, who started the week three points up on the Sky Blues. With so little separating the top four, a premium is placed on matches in which two of them are involved.
For Villa, Wednesday's match presents an opportunity to affirm themselves as true challengers. Defeating the reigning treble holders would be a perfect way to do so.
“Always I want to play against the best teams and the best players," Villa boss Unai Emery said.
"Every team has injuries in some moments and we are going to remind you of our big injuries to Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia.
“We are analysing the opponent and analysing them more collectively than individually. I think their structure is very strong, it’s very difficult to stop their ball possession.
“They will have some players out but they are going to play with other very good players.”
