Australia and Nigeria meet Thursday in Brisbane for both teams' second match at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The Aussies were victorious in their opening game and a victory against the Nigerians would assure them of advancement into the knockout stages. The Matildas will look to be more convincing than they were in their win over Ireland, which required a successful 52nd-minute penalty to clinch the three points.
As for Nigeria, anything less than a win would be disastrous. With Canada taking the group lead a day earlier thanks to a comeback 2-1 win over Republic of Ireland, the pressure is now on the Super Falcons to keep pace with a victory of their own.
