With half the group stage done, Barcelona finds itself on the outside looking in.
Group C of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League is among the tougher of the groups, with Barça competing against Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen for two spots in the knockouts. After three matches, Barcelona sits third in the four-team group, with Bayern and Inter claiming the top two spots.
It's a desperate situation that requires urgency as the Blaugrana host Inter for a crucial Matchday 4 contest, with the Italian side having won the reverse fixture last week and putting Barça on the ropes.
Still, there are nine points on offer and enough leeway for the club to climb its way back into the top two, said Xavi Hernandez. It starts at home against Inter.
"We expect an Inter side similar to the one in the game in Milan," the Barcelona manager said. "They are very solid defensively but we have alternatives. We have to be brave and we have to go on the attack. There is a lot at stake - it's a final for us and there is no room for error.
"We will try to attack as best we can. We have to be more aggressive, more direct and get in the box more and shoot from distance. From the kick off we have to show intensity and only three points will do.
"We are in a tricky situation in the competition but we will give everything. There is pressure, we are Barça but it's final and we shall treat it like one."
