If there's ever a team capable of reversing a one-goal deficit in the second leg of a Champions League knockout tie, it's Bayern Munich.
The German giants will look to do just that on Tuesday, when they host Villarreal at Allianz Arena for Leg 2 of their quarterfinal affair. The Spanish side got an early goal from Arnaut Danjuma in last week's first leg and held on for the remainder of the match, despite Bayern's overwhelming advantage in possession and shots.
Now the teams meet in Munich with Bayern needing to score at least once in regular time, but looking to do a lot more in front of their home fans.
"We want to deliver and we have to raise our full intensity including in possession," Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann said on Monday. "We have to increase the tempo of the game with quick and aggressive moves. It's a game that players love. There's a lot at stake and you have to invest a lot as well. It's well known that diamonds are created from pressure. Perhaps we'll produce a brilliant game tomorrow."
For their part, the visitors are well aware of the challenges of facing the Bundesliga leaders on their home turf. Bayern haven't lost a game at home since early January and will look to play aggressively against the Yellow Submarine.
"It will be a completely different game from the first leg," Villarreal manager Unai Emery said. "To have a chance of winning we have to overcome those difficulties. But we also have to see the confidence we have in ourselves."
