With the European Leagues entering the final stretch for the season, there is plenty still to be decided. As we tick into March, it’s become clear which teams are best placed to battle out for the top prizes. More importantly, which teams are fighting to survive to keep their top-flight ambitions alive?
Frauen Bundesliga: Bavarian Brilliance and Duisberg Dread
Once again, Germany’s trophy is a two-way tussle between FC Bayern and VFL Wolfsburg. A single point puts the Bavarians on top, but the She-Wolves do have a +3 goal difference on their rivals. The two sides meet in March in Lower Saxony and whoever triumphs that day will take a huge step to the title.
In the UWCL race, Eintracht Frankfurt currently occupy third spot, but they stand just two points ahead of Hoffenheim. With both teams stuttering, it could be whomever blinks first that will miss out on a chance to take part in Europe’s biggest showpiece competition.
At the bottom, Duisburg looks doomed to drop into the 2. Bundesliga, already seven points adrift. 1. FC Nürnberg are just three points from safety and will hope to drag 1. FC Köln and RB Leipzig into an end-of-season dogfight.

D1 Arkema: Outstanding OL and a LOSC cause
After grinding out a late draw against Paris Saint Germain, Lyon look almost certain to add another Ligue 1 crown to their immense collection. Les Fenottes hold a mammoth nine-point gap over the Parisians and they remain unbeaten domestically this season under Sonia Bompastor.
PSG will be eager to ensure they keep ahold of second place and recent inconsistencies by Paris FC have given them a handy five-point gap over their neighbours. All three teams look guaranteed to get European football once again, with Paris FC in 3rd having a nine-point gap over Montpellier.
At the other end of the table, Bordeaux and LOSC Lille are both languishing on seven and eight points respectively. However, a couple of good results could send them shooting up the table and in turn, make Guingamp and Dijon very nervous.

Liga F: Unstoppable Blaugrana but Grim for Granada
Despite dropping points recently, FC Barcelona still hold a cavernous nine-point lead at the top of the table. Jonatan Giráldez’s final months in charge are guaranteed to involve celebrating another league title and you wouldn’t bet against the Catalan club remaining unbeaten.
This once again leaves Real Madrid battling for second place and with a four-point lead over Levante UD, they look well-placed to once again be best of the rest. The Buñol-based outfit are keen to ensure it isn’t easy for Las Blancas, however, they also need to watch for Madrid CFF who sit just three points behind.
With just one win all season and four points, Sporting de Huelva are almost certain to be dropping into Primera Federación next season. Granada are also set to join them currently, but their 12-point gap means they are within a point of Real Betis and touching distance of Eibar, who will all be nervously looking over their shoulder.

Serie A: La Lupa Lead as Fortunes Split
With just a sole loss in the First Phase, AS Roma have qualified for the Championship Round in style. Alessandro Spugna’s side stand tall and look likely to secure a second Scudetto in a row. Their nine-point lead over Juventus makes them very much the team to beat in the Championship Round.
With Fiorentina just four points behind The Old Lady, they might fancy the ability to catch and overtake their illustrious rivals to snatch a UWCL spot. La Viola are all but assured third place, holding a 13-point lead over both Sassuolo and Inter Milan, who are duking it out for fourth.
In the Relegation Round, Napoli and Pomigliano are 12 points adrift of Sampdoria. Both teams sit on six points, with Pomigliano’s worse goal difference meaning the Neapolitans currently get a 2nd chance in the Relegation Play-Offs. It is extremely tight, however, and a single point could swing fates dramatically.

Women’s Super League: 3 into 1 and Deja Vu for Bristol City
Manchester City’s dramatic and controversial 1-0 win over Chelsea, coupled with Arsenal’s convincing 3-1 victory over Manchester United means the title race in England is wide open.
Emma Hayes’s defending Champions sit top on 34, with a single goal difference separating them from the Citizens. Arsenal are just behind on 31 and will feel their destiny is in their hands, with visits to the Joie Stadium and Stamford Bridge on the horizon.
The battle for the best of the rest is tight too. Manchester United’s inconsistencies have allowed Liverpool to creep up to just two points behind their rivals, and Tottenham are only five points behind the Red Devils.
At the foot of the table, Bristol City sit on six points and the Robins will be wary that the trapdoor is closing in. However, a win or two could make things very nervous for West Ham or Brighton and Hove Albion who sit just five points ahead of Lauren Smith’s side on 11 each.
