Two second-half goals courtesy of Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva helped Chelsea cruise to a 2-0 win over London rival and top four chasing Tottenham Hotspur.
Ziyech opened the scoring just after halftime with a curling effort into the top left hand corner of Hugo Lloris' net. He almost got a second after his outside the foot effort was parried away by the French shot-stopper, who extended his contract at Spurs earlier this week.
It was only a matter of time until Chelsea struck again, and this time it was centre back Thiago Silva whose header from a Mason Mount cross put Thomas Tuchel's team in control.
From the second goal until the final time whistle, Chelsea asserted control. The players were happy to pass the ball around midfield and control the tempo and possession, only attacking when an opening presented itself. Meanwhile, Spurs lacked any real threat both on and off the ball. It seemed like Spurs were still recovering from the high octane nature of the last-gasp win against Leciester City and had no energy to compete with the reigning European champions.
Just like the League Cup semi-finals over the past few weeks, Chelsea asserted their dominance early, controlling possession and created the better chances.
For Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku however, it was a 45 minutes to forget. The Belgian fired a chance over the bar within the opening minute and then missed a perfect cross from Mason Mount on the half-hour mark.
Tottenham's only real chance of the game came from Harry Kane, who seemed to have put his side ahead after tucking away a Ryan Sessegnon cross in the 40th minute. This, however, was ruled out after referee Paul Tierney deemed Kane’s push on Thiago Silva in the Chelsea penalty area a foul.
After what had been a mixed couple of weeks for Chelsea, a win over their city rivals could provide the spark they need for the rest of the season, but for Spurs, it just shows the huge task manager Antonio Conte has on his hands when it comes to making Spurs a dangerous force in the Premier League and beyond.
