Cristiano Ronaldo was surprisingly on the bench for Manchester United as they welcomed Everton to Old Trafford, knowing that a victory would move them top of the Premier League table.
And, according to Express Sport, the Portugese star was none too pleased with the turn of events.
Ronaldo has been in great form since returning to the club with whom he grew into a world-class forward, but the start of the Champions League group stages means the Red Devils will be playing twice a week during many periods.
The 36-year-old has plenty of cohorts at the club who can slot into one of his many roles, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for Edinson Cavani up front and flanked by Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, and Anthony Martial for the Toffees clash.
The newspaper reported: "Express Sport understands Ronaldo is livid with Solskjaer after being told of the decision to name him amongst the substitutes on Friday."
Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho were two other big names who only made the bench for the match, which can be watched on DAZN in Canada along with the rest of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
