Tournament in Germany kicks-off next week.

Darren Anderton knows all about a successful Euros campaign, having been part of the England squad that made it all the the way to the semi-finals at Euro 96.

Nearly thirty years on, the current England side is considered to be one of the favourites for this year's tournament in Germany, and the former Three Lions winger can see exactly why Gareth Southgate's side are one of the teams to beat at the tournament.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN, thanks to Free Bets, Anderton has bigged up England's chances as one of the pre-tournament favourites.

He said: "They should be one of the favourites with the players and the talent we've got that are performing week in, week out at the very highest level. Playing in huge games, Premier League, Champions League, all throughout the season.

"They've been doing it for years. Players and a team that have performed at tournaments, tournament football is definitely different. It's a different dynamic and different pressure than a one-off game. So I think we have everything that we need.

"Defensively, I think that's definitely a worry. I think there's no doubt about it. But the way I think Gareth will probably set up is that he'll probably protect the back four, the centre-backs a little bit if he can and then let those boys up top just go and do their thing. So, I think that we should be one of the favourites."

If it's not England who lifts the trophy in Berlin next month, Anderton believes that France could be the biggest danger, but hasn't ruled out the hosts from being a team to watch as well.

He added: "I think France probably are going to be the team to beat. I think whoever can do that will probably win the tournament, but I do believe that we can beat France.

"You've got to be worried about Germany. In their own country, it is what it is.

"They will perform, I'm sure, and they will be there or thereabouts. So for me, those three are probably where the winner's going to come from."
