The 23 players eligible to join inductees Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer in the inaugural class of the Premier League Hall of Fame were announced on Monday — and there are some very big names included.
Henry and Shearer were revealed earlier on Monday as the Hall of Fame's initial inductees, with the league also announcing a fan vote to help fill the remaining six slots in the "Class of 2021." Fans will be able to choose from 23 players — all of whom are retired from the professional game as of August 1, 2020 — in an online vote at the Premier League's official website and on its app.
The 23-player shortlist is as follows:
Tony Adams | Roy Keane |
David Beckham | Frank Lampard |
Dennis Bergkamp | Matthew Le Tissier |
Sol Campbell | Michael Owen |
Eric Cantona | Peter Schmeichel |
Andrew Cole | Paul Scholes |
Ashley Cole | John Terry |
Didier Drogba | Robin van Persie |
Les Ferdinand | Nemanja Vidic |
Rio Ferdinand | Patrick Vieira |
Robbie Fowler | Ian Wright |
Steven Gerrard |
Voting will take place at www.premierleague.com/halloffame and on the official Premier League app until May 9.
