It's been quite a week for Canada's men's national soccer team.
After exorcising the demon that was Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano with a 2-0 win over Honduras last Thursday, the Canadians returned home on Sunday to pick up their first World Cup qualifying victory over the United States since 1980. Sunday's win in Hamilton, Ont. — also a 2-0 scoreline — was Canada's fifth straight in the qualification tournament, keeping the team atop the standings until at least Matchday 12.
However, there's still the matter of Matchday 11, which goes Wednesday in El Salvador. The Salvadorans are hanging by a thread and desperate for a victory to keep their faint Qatar 2022 dreams alive, but they'll face a Canadian team brimming with confidence and swagger.

Canada hosted El Salvador on Sept. 8 (Matchday 3) in Toronto for a one-sided match that was over within the first 11 minutes. The Canadians claimed a 3-0 victory that day — their first of the final qualifying round — and never looked back, starting their current run to the top of the table. A win in San Salvador by the Canadians would keep that momentum going, virtually assuring them a spot in December's World Cup.
