The 22-year-old hobbled off in the dying moments of Wednesday's match.

A 1-0 pre-Euro 2020 tune-up victory over Austria came at a cost for England.

The Three Lions were victorious in the international friendly, played at Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough on Wednesday, thanks to a Bukayo Saka strike just before the hour mark. But the most noteworthy event took place near the end of the match as Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to injure himself while making a defensive play.

The 22-year-old full-back was favouring his left thigh as he left the match despondent moments after the injury occurred, dealing another blow to the young player who had worked his way back into the England squad after missing out on the team's games in March.

While it's still too early to assess the extent of the injury, England manager Gareth Southgate told reporters that the team's physicians hope to have an answer soon.

"It's not a good sign to see him walk off as he did," Southgate said.
