The 22-year-old suffered an injury on Wednesday.

It turns out that 13 was an unlucky number for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England right-back suffered a quad tear in a 1-0 friendly victory over Austria on Wednesday, ruling him out of the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament. Alexander-Arnold's injury came as the 22-year-old attempted a clearance in the late stages of the match, his 13th for the Three Lions.

It seemed as though he knew exactly the extent of the injury almost immediately, as a distraught Alexander-Arnold was seen gesturing to the bench before appearing crestfallen as he slowly made his way off the pitch.

Scans on Thursday confirmed the injury, which will sideline Alexander-Arnold for up to six weeks. He will return to his club, Liverpool, to begin rehab.

England manager Gareth Southgate will not name a replacement until after the team's match against Romania on Sunday. The Three Lions open their Euro 2020 campaign June 13 against Croatia.
