The final day of Group D action saw the Three Lions take three points against the Czech Republic, while the Scots couldn't claim a needed victory vs. Croatia.

Despite scoring its first European Championship goal since 1996, Scotland found itself on the outside looking in for the knockout stages of Euro 2020.

The Scots fell 3-1 to Croatia at a raucous Hampden Park in Glasgow on Tuesday, leaving them with zero points through three games as Group D drew to a close.

It was the Croatians who struck first, with Nikola Vlasic putting his side up in the 17th minute. However, the opening goal did nothing to deter Scotland from pushing forward, and the Steve Clarke-led side was rewarded for its positive play minutes before halftime.

After working their way down the right flank, the Scots got the ball into Croatia's penalty area. A half-hearted pair of clearance attempts eventually saw the ball fall to the feet of Callum McGregor, who smashed it home from 20 yards out.

The goal gave Scotland life as a third-place finish was within the realm of possibility, but Croatia's talisman Luka Modric scored a stunning 62nd-minute strike to give his side another lead, and Ivan Perisic added a late goal to end all hopes of a Scottish comeback.

With the win, Croatia secured second place in Group D and will travel to Copenhagen to face the Group E runner-up on June 28. Scotland, meanwhile, sees an end to its Euro 2020 as the fourth-place finisher in the group.

England wins Group D

While Scotland and Croatia were battling in Glasgow, England was in London taking on the Czech Republic.

The Three Lions rung off a third-straight clean sheet as they defeated the Czechs 1-0 at Wembley Stadium, with Raheem Sterling notching the winner. Sterling's decider came just moments after he had struck the woodwork with a chip attempt, but the 26-year-old would make no mistake when he rose to meet a Jack Grealish cross in the 12th minute.

England claims top spot with the victory and will stay in London for a June 29 round-of-16 clash with the second-place finisher in Group F. Meanwhile, the Czechs will also move on to the last-16 as one of the four best third-place finishers, but they'll still need to wait for Wednesday's Group E and F finales to confirm their next opponent.
