The goalkeeper went from hero to zero in the space of a few minutes.

On some days you're the hero and on others you're the goat.

Martin Dubravka managed to be both in a single half on Wednesday for Slovakia, after the goalkeeper denied a spot-kick and later scored a calamitous own goal against Spain on the final day of action in Group E at Euro 2020.

The Slovaks entered the match in second place in the group and in need of a result against the third-place Spaniards to advance to the last-16. Fate seemed to be on Slovakia's side when Dubravka faced down Alvaro Morata in the 12th minute and stopped his penalty kick, keeping the match scoreless and giving the team hope that it would be able to hold off the Spaniards.

However, whatever high Dubravka and the Slovaks were feeling from the penalty stop was nullified just under 20 minutes later when the 'keeper attempted to punch the floating ball over the crossbar, but instead knocked it directly into the back of the net.

The goal shifted momentum firmly into Spain's favour, and Aymeric Laporte struck just before the halftime break to give the Spanish a 2-0 lead. Pablo Sarabia and Ferran Torres added second-half goals, while Slovakia's Juraj Kucka scored his team's second own goal of the match, as the Spaniards ran out 5-0 winners.
