The left back has dominated discussions throughout the tournament so far.

One England player which has been frequently mentioned during Euro 2024 is left-back Luke Shaw.

The defender has become a vital part of the recent success enjoyed by Gareth Southgate's team, but he is yet to step onto the pitch in Germany.

With England delivering underwhelming performances so far, some fans are eager to see Shaw return to the starting lineup as soon as possible, but why is the Manchester United player not starting for England?

Why is Luke Shaw not starting for England?

Luke Shaw has not played for Manchester United since picking up a muscle injury during the team's 2-1 win over Luton Town in February.

Despite the lack of gametime for his club, Shaw still found a way into the England squad for Euro 2024 with Gareth Southgate having very little options to choose from when it comes to a natural left-back.

When will Luke Shaw play for England?

Luke Shaw made his first appearance at Euro 2024 when he came off the bench during England's quarter-final clash with Switzerland on Saturday.

Shaw then declared in a press conference on Monday that he is ready to play a full match if needed and said it was now down to manager Gareth Southgate to make a decision.

"Of course, I think I am [fit and ready to play 90 minutes],” Shaw said.

“That is down to Gareth's decision. I feel fit and ready to go."

When is England's next Euro 2024 match?

England's next match is their semi-final against the Netherlands on Wednesday, July 10.

The game will take place at the BVB Stadion Dortmund and will kick-off at 9 p.m. CET / 8 p.m. UK / 3 p.m. ET.
