Liverpool fans have kept a watchful eye on their glut of stars at Euro 2024, with one in particular being one of the stars of the tournament.
Cody Gakpo currently leads the Golden Boot race in Germany and has been the standout player for the Netherlands in their run to the semi-finals of the competition.
His form from the left of the Dutch attack has confirmed where the forward is best deployed. Talking to BetVictor, former Reds defender Stephen Warnock feels the club now knows where he fits in Arne Slot's team.
“I think Liverpool fans have always been left wondering what Cody Gakpo’s best position is,” said Warnock.
“Now we’re seeing that he’s at his best on the left wing. He’s got great aerial ability, strength and pace and he’s got a ferocious shot when he cuts inside on his right foot. We’re now seeing him in his favourite position, but Liverpool already have Luis Diaz there and they’re being linked with Anthony Gordon.
“His biggest problem is that he’s almost a utility player at Liverpool, filling in when others are injured or underperforming. His stats last year were actually superb and he chipped in brilliantly from the bench, but he’ll be frustrated at not playing week in, week out.”
