Emmanuel Petit wants Chelsea to stick with Nicolas Jackson at striker instead of looking to the transfer market for a replacement.
Jackson was ineffective in the Blues' season opener over the weekend as he played 66 minutes in the club's 2-0 loss to Manchester City. It was a forgettable start to a campaign in which Jackson hopes to improve upon his 14-goal tally from 2023-24, but Petit has advised the London club to resist the urge to find a big-money replacement for the 23-year-old.
Instead, Petit wants Chelsea to remain patient with Jackson — if only to try something other than what they've been doing for the past several years.
"Nicolas Jackson does try hard but it just hasn't worked out," Petit told Safest Casino Sites. "But, every time something hasn't worked out, Chelsea has spent money to fix the issue and it's not always worked. There are players in the squad. There needs to be stability to establish confidence in the squad, then they will start performing. One loss should not mean you have to spend millions on a new player.
"The Manchester City game was one of the worst games I've seen Cole Palmer play too, I'm worried about a lot of the players, they're all struggling. If you change Jackson, it will be the same question and story for the next striker. Chelsea need to keep the spine of the team. I have no idea what the club is going to do."
