England begin their 2024 European Championship campaign against Serbia this Sunday, with Gareth Southgate's side starting the tournament as favourites.
England were beaten finalists at the last Euros, losing on penalties in the final against Italy at Wembley,
But after a season where the likes of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Phil Foden proved themselves to be world class players, confidence is high going into the tournament in Germany.
Southgate has plenty of decisions to make when it comes to picking his starting 11, including where to start the Premier League's Player of the Season Foden.
Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, former England striker Alan Shearer said Foden must play in a central position if Southgate is to get the best out of him.
"I’m playing Phil Foden just in front of Bellingham and Rice," said Shearer.
"He has to be in that position because he affects the game so much.
"He wants to get on the ball, he’s brilliant on the ball and he’s got better and better this season.
"He’s been absolutely magnificent and I really hope he plays in that 10 position rather than on the left-hand side because that’s his best position."
