Kylian Mbappé's future is a hot topic of discussion as the PSG star seems increasingly likely to continue his club career away from the French capital next season.

Given Mbappé's stature in world football, only a handful of clubs are considered realistic landing spots for the World Cup winner. Manchester City are one of the clubs who have the financial clout and recent winning tradition to entice Mbappé, but his countryman and former France international Marcel Desailly doesn't think the Etihad Stadium is a good destination for the 24-year-old.

Desailly points to City's structure under manager Pep Guardiola as the main reason why Mbappé wouldn't be a good fit at the Premier League side.

"It won't be easy if Mbappé goes to City. It sounds strange, but I don't think Mbappé is meant to play for City," Desailly told Gambling Zone. "There is too much discipline.

"In France, we say that the way City play doesn't leave much room for individuals. With all their passing, they don't really suit players who want to take defenders on.

"They pass, they move. Silva and Grealish both have the ability to play number ten, but that's been killed by Guardiola's philosophy."

Desailly doesn't see how Mbappé's style of play would mesh with City's.

"He (Guardiola) wants them to stay on their side, get the ball, show speed, play the balls, and receive the ball back, and play one-twos," he said. "Mbappé doesn't do that. He uses the ball to make the difference.

"The other players will look at him with confusion as he's not supposed to do that! There'll be a drop in his confidence if he doesn't start well there, either.

"He's a top player, but not a Man City player."
