Liverpool will enter a new era this summer as Arne Slot takes on the formidable task of succeeding Jurgen Klopp as the club's manager.
Klopp decided to call time on his rein at Anfield after nine years on Merseyside, having won both the Champions League and the Premier League for the club. The Reds will now head into next season under the charge of former Feyenoord boss Slot.
Talking exclusively to DAZN, thanks to AceOdds, former Liverpool striker Michael Owen thinks it's too early to tell what sort of manager Slot will be for his former club, but is wary of him falling into the same trap as previous Premier League gaffers who have failed after following a legendary figure.
He said: "Well, it's all up in the air, isn't it really? I mean, anybody that has a massively strong opinion said, "Oh, yeah, he's going to be a perfect match or he's going to be a total failure." I mean, what can you say? It's going to be really interesting.
"We've seen other teams in the past in the Premier League have had a manager for a long period of time and it's probably, the stats are pointing against him. You would say, when [Alex] Ferguson left, we all know what happened after that and it's still happening to this day. When Arsene Wenger left, it was not great for a good period of time, now they're just coming back.
"A lot of teams that have had a manager for a long period of time tend to struggle straight after. But that's not to say, two examples in the Premier League era aren’t sufficient to say, that's going to be exactly the same.
"So, who knows? But what you do know is that Jürgen Klopp was an incredible manager. That's going to be huge boots to fill."
