Mark Lawrenson believes Liverpool's returning players could provide a needed "boost" to the club amid a heated Premier League title race.

Liverpool are tied on points with league-leading Arsenal, while Manchester City are lurking just one point behind the top two. There are just seven matches left on the schedule, making for a frenzied race to the finish line for the three contenders.

With such razor-thin margins at play, any little advantage could be amplified. Lawrenson feels that Liverpool's returning players could provide an edge to Jurgen Klopp's side over the final stretch of games.

Speaking to Paddy Power, the longtime former Liverpool defender named Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konaté's imminent returns to league play as a possible shot in the arm.

“Having Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota all back in training and in contention to play definitely improves Liverpool’s chances in the title race," Lawrenson said. "Not only those three players but also Ibrahima Konaté is coming back, so if you look around the dressing room, that’s nearly everyone back fit which gives competition for places, which at this stage of the season is great.

“I think it will help them kick on, but being honest, they’ve been winning games without those players already, but this will give them a boost.”
