Jordan Henderson’s career has lacked consistency since he left Liverpool last summer but has the former Anfield captain done enough to earn a place in the England squad?
Gareth Southgate’s side head to Germany later this year for the European Championships and Henderson’s inclusion in the squad is a subject that splits opinion.
Since leaving Liverpool, Henderson has played in Saudi Arabia for Al Ettifaq but has since moved onto Ajax.
Glen Johnson, another player who has represented Liverpool and England, has had his say on the matter and he believes his former teammate should be included.
“Jordan comes in for a lot of criticism, but people don’t realise what he does for the squad,” said Johnson when speaking to Betfred.
“England’s squad is very young, and you need experienced heads in there to help out. Hendo probably won’t start or play much at Euro 2024, but for the purpose of reassuring and encouraging the youngsters, he should definitely be on the plane.”
