Former Manchester City midfielder Didi Hamann has stated that his former club is now Liverpool's biggest rival. Historically, Manchester United and Liverpool have been the biggest rivals in English football but the balance has shifted in the last few years.
Following Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp's arrivals into the Premier League, Liverpool and Man City have battled year in and year out for the big prizes, and the two teams will clash in the first Premier League fixture following this week's international break.
Speaking to Boyle Sports who offer the latest Premier League odds, Hamann said, "We all know how far the United rivalry goes back. However, in terms of the here and now, then I'd say City are the bigger rival for Liverpool."
City and Liverpool have played epic games across all competitions in the last few seasons and it is hard to argue with Hamann's overall point when it comes to City vs. Liverpool becoming a standout Premier League rivalry.
