Steve Bruce knows a thing or two about managing football clubs, and he thinks Roy Keane could return to the sidelines of a club or country some day.

Keane has reinvented himself as a pundit after stints managing Sunderland and Ipswich Town followed his sparkling playing career, and Bruce feels his former Manchester United teammate still has a lot to give to the coaching ranks.

Keane also served as an assistant with Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, with the latter being his most recent job as part of management in 2019.

"It's been four years since Roy managed, and of course he'd be on everybody's lips when it comes to Ireland," Bruce told Gambling Zone. "He's always box office."

"Him going back into football wouldn't surprise me. He may have made himself into the face of punditry, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him back in football as I know he loves it.

"I see Roy a lot as he goes to Salford games if he's not working on a Saturday. My son-in-law plays there, too, so I see a lot of their games.

"It wouldn't surprise me to see Roy go back to any job in football."

Of course, Keane's status as one of United's greatest-ever captains will always keep his name linked with the club, and Bruce feels a move back to Old Trafford would be a good fit for his old teammate.

"It wouldn't surprise me to see Roy take up a role at Man United," he said. "We all know how highly he's thought of at the club as he was there for 13 years and served as a huge captain for them.

"Who knows? I'm sure he'd be open to any discussion."
