Former Manchester United and England winger Lee Sharpe believes Manchester United should sign Victor Osimhen and Michaelo Olise.
United have struggled under Erik ten Hag this season and new part-owner Jim Ratcliffe is rumoured to be planning a rebuild of the squad in the summer, regardless of the Dutch manager’s short-term future.
Speaking to Footy Accumulators, Sharpe thinks that Napoli striker Osimhen and Crystal Palace forward Olise would be two players to sign to reinvigorate the forward line, and also namechecked Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
He said: “I know that Osimhen - the centre forward - they [Manchester United] were looking at him for a while.
“Michael Olise looks like a really good player, and Jarrad Branthwaite - the young lad from Everton - looks like a really solid defender. But then again, they are young lads, and they would be coming into an environment that is totally different from the clubs they’re at, and you would have to give them a little bit of time to potentially have to settle, and so are they going to be straight into the team or are they going to be something for the future.
“I think we [Manchester United] will probably need one or two players that are going to come straight in, before looking to a couple that are going to be edged in and done a little bit slower.
“The general consensus is that Martial has probably had his day. I think that he will be moved on in summer and then another centre forward can come in to help out Hojlund.
“Also, they [Manchester United] are looking like maybe they’re not going to keep Varane, so another centre half is needed and then they might have some sort of squad.”
