He has one theory.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister believes that Jadon Sancho may not be cut out for life in the Premier League.

Sancho left Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund as a teenager, and he quickly established himself as one of the most exciting wingers in Europe.

That earned him a big-money move back to England with United, but he struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then Erik ten Hag.

This season a falling-out with Ten Hag saw him return on loan to Dortmund, where his form has steadily improved, and he finds himself part of the team that is now playing Real Madrid in the Champions League final this weekend.

Speaking to BetVictor, Pallister suggested that given Sancho’s undoubted talent, he may simply be more suited to the Bundesliga.

Pallister said: “Jadon Sancho has never really hit the heights at Manchester United in all the time that he's been there. We've seen flashes but he's been nowhere near consistent enough. I think he probably would admit this himself; he wasn't at his best for United.

“Sometimes certain leagues suit certain players and some just offer different challenges for players that they're not comfortable with.

“He left this country to go over to Germany and he did really well for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and earned himself a place in the England squad. And he’s rediscovered his best form there again.”
