Manchester United have struggled so far this season.

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes manager Erik ten Hag is struggling to keep his squad singing from the same hymn sheet.

Following a summer transfer window which saw plenty of arrivals at Old Trafford, many were expecting United to at least be challenging for a top four-finish and even a push towards a bid for the Premier League title.

Things however could not be more different for the Red Devils. The team currently sit tenth in the table and there are a number of player issues Ten Hag is having to deal with, as well as trying to get his squad to perform on the pitch.

Speaking to GGRecon, Silvestre is not surprised there are some United players who are showing signs of frustration.

"When results aren’t going your way, you’re always going to have players that complain, especially those who’re not being selected in the starting eleven," Silvestre said.

"That’s how it is and as long as everything is under control in the dressing room, and the team is working towards the same objective, then at some point good fortune will return."

As expected when a major team is experiencing a poor run of form, there are always going to be calls for the manager to be sacked, but Silvestre does not fear for Ten Hag's future at United.

"It’s been a tough start, but I don’t think the manager is in danger of losing his job," Silvestre continued.

"He’s not got a grip on his squad at the moment, so there is still a lot of work to do.

"He hasn’t been at the club for a long time, but obviously in football you want immediate results and that’s not always a simple thing to achieve.”
