Former Premier League coach labels Netherlands superstar overrated ahead of Euros semi-finalDAZN
The Dutch meet England in the final four.

The Netherlands have steadily grown into Euro 2024 and are now one game away from competing in the tournament's final on Sunday.

Standing in their way are England, who they'll meet in Wednesday night's semi-final, where, once again, the focus will be on the Dutch's key men in attack.

Cody Gapko has been one of the stars of the tournament thus far, but Memphis Depay has struggled to fulfil his pre-Euros expectations.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN, thanks to FreeBets, former Fulham and Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen is still not convinced by the forward and believes the team need more from their number ten.

"I think he's a little bit overrated to some extent," he said

"I think he had a decent season when he played for PSV and Lyon, but when you come to clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, these are big teams, you have to perform at your best two, three times a week.

"It's not like turning up one week and then you don't really perform two, three weeks after, and that is a little bit what his problem has been.

"He's also, in my opinion, not an out-and-out striker, and that is a little bit of a problem where Holland sometimes suffers a little bit because he drops into deep areas.

"If you haven't got other players to really fill that space then you're causing a bit of a problem. He's obviously scored one goal so far, but his contribution is a little bit under par because I think he's a bit sloppy at times in retaining the ball or bringing other ones into play, so I think everybody expects more from him."
