Manchester United finally relieved Erik ten Hag of his duties on Monday, sacking the Dutchman after United's 2-1 defeat to West Ham.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken interim charge of the club, but already a host of names have been linked with the post.
Making his choice immediately known, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara told Grosvenor Sport that he would give the job to someone who understands the nature of being at a huge club like United.
"Manchester United need to find a manager who understands what it means to play for Manchester United or a huge football club,” he said.
"Xavi Hernández is one that I would consider; he’s a manager who plays a lovely style of football and also played for a huge club in Barcelona.
“I think Xavi would be an obvious candidate, but I would also say that the club has missed the boat with Thomas Tuchel. I think the FA jumped on that because they knew that Ten Hag was going to be sacked and that Tuchel was available, and he would have ended up at Manchester United, I think."
O'Hara also believes that a current Premier League manager could be given a shot, given his performances since being in the top flight.
Adding: “Brentford’s Thomas Frank is also a good manager; he knows how to win games, and he probably deserves a chance at the top.
"It is a difficult situation because it is Manchester United; it’s one of the biggest jobs in the world, and they have to get this one right. They need to find a manager who is going to implement their philosophy straight away and not say after two years that they are still trying to build.”
